What is the PTSA?

 The A&M Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) is a non-profit association of parents, educators, teachers and students that seeks to enhance the academic experience of the A&M charter high school community.  The PTSA seeks to broaden the quality of arts education for students at A&M charter high school, encouraging them to explore their artistic talents  and to create works of art in the areas of dance, choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts. Parents, teachers, staff, and community members all play a critical role in providing a positive learning environment for our children. Supporting the PTSA is one way you can increase student achievement, foster student talents, and promote the arts in your home, your school, and your community.

PTSA Mission Statement

The mission of the National PTA is three-fold:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

A&M PTSA Purpose

The Purposes of the A&M PTSA are:

  • To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship;
  • To raise the standards of home life;
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
  • To bring into close relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and

Parents, students and faculty volunteered at the 2010 Coconut Grove Arts Festival booth during President's Day weekend, handing out literature and displaying student art. From left to right is Ms. Nathalie Milian, Adrian Alfonso and his mother Lourdes Alfonso, and Melanie Bourdin.

A&M was out in force volunteering at the 2010 Great Taste of the Grove, January 9-10, 2010. Parents and staff were the cooks, but the students sold the goods inside the Johnsonville Brats booth, while other students entertained the crowd on the stage. Despite the weather, it was another one of the PTSA's fun fundraising activities.
